Share2Blue2th Version 3.0

What these scripts do:  

These scripts allow you to share your Mac's internet connection out over bluetooth with your bluetooth capable phone.  While they were designed solely for working with a Nokia 3650, theoretically they can push an internet connection over bluetooth to any device paired over bluetooth with your Mac.  While this read me contains information on setting up the Nokia 3650 to access this connection, several readers of my site have reported being able to use the scripts with a variety of cellphones and even for sharing an internet connection between two Macs (although I myself have not as of yet tried this and do not know how they managed it).  Note: For P800/P900 users, adding -p800 before the -v in the first bit of command line code should make these scripts work with your phone.

There are two folders of Share2Blue2th scripts contained in this package.  The first consists of stand alone script apps that can be placed in your Applications folder, or wherever you like.  The second folder can be dropped into your ~/Library/Scripts/ folder to be accessible via the Script Menu.

CONFIGURING SHARE2BLUE2TH:

HOW TO SET UP YOUR MAC:
Make sure that your phone and your mac are paired in the Bluetooth control panel. Make sure your computer's Bluetooth settings are set to Make Discoverable.
Make sure that if you have your firewall on that you have opened up port 3004 for bluetooth. (System Preferencesharing:Firewall then choose New... Port Name, Other, then Port 3004, and name Bluetooth.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR PHONE:
You will need to set up your phone to access the bluetooth paired connection with your Mac as an Access Point before running the scripts (see below for instructions for setting up a Nokia 3650 which is the only phone with which I personally have used these scripts).

FIRST-RUN OF SCRIPTS:
The first time you launch any of the Share2Blue2th scripts, you will be prompted for your phone's MAC address which can be found by navigating to System Preferences:Bluetoothevices and selecting your phone from the list of paired devices, The Device Address is your phone's MAC address (the MAC address should be entered with colons rather than dashes; i.e. 00:00:00:00:00) .

After answering the dialogues, you will be prompted for your administrator password.  Enter it and wait for the script to finish running.  If it doesn't work, kill it using the kill script and then run it again.  For some reason, the first couple of times you connect you have to do this. Good luck. Make sure you run the kill scripts to disconnect everytime you connect with the Share2Blue2th scripts, even if you become disconnected at some point. This ensures that everything is ready to go on your Mac for the next time you run the scripts (otherwise you will need to restart the computer to run the connect script again).

That should be it.  From now on, whenever you want to connect to the net using your 3650 via your computer, simply launch the script.  You will be prompted for your administrator password.  Enter it and wait for the script to finish running.  If it doesn't work, kill it using the kill script and then run it again.  For some reason, the first couple of times you connect you have to do this. Good luck.

HOW TO SETUP THE CONNECTION ON A NOKIA 3650:
Navigate to Connections: Bluetooth and turn bluetooth on and make sure your phone and your Mac are paired if you haven't already done so.

Next navigate to Tools: Settings and choose the Connection settings tab.  Click on Access Points, a screen should come up with your available access points, click Options: New Access Point and Use Default settings.  Change the connection name to the name of your computer as it appears in the paired device list on your phone.  Change the Access Point name to the same name.  Leave everything else the same.

Now navigate back to the connection settings and select GPRS.  Make sure under GPRS connection it is set to When available, and make sure that under Access point you have selected the access point which you just created.

You should be good to go.

Mit MAC kenn ich mich nicht aus, aber wenn Du das Px00 via BT an Deinen Rechner koppelst (muss verbunden sein) dann kannst Du mit DSL geschindigkeit surfen, wenn du den Opera Browser auf dem Handy installiert hast! Es braucht keine Einstellungen, das Px00 nimmt dann automatisch die BT Verbindung um ins Netz zu kommen.

aber beim verbinden öffnet sich ein menü mit diversen zugangsmöglichkeiten.. eplus wap-gprs, eplus mms-gprs, eplus internet....

aber nichts mit bluetooth...

Gehst Du mit Breitband ins Netz?
Es geht NUR mit Opera, der interne Browser will immer ne Verbindung via GPRS oder HSCSD eröffnen. Wie schon gesagt, es braucht keine Einstellungen die geändert werden müssten, was sicher nicht nur für Windoof Rechner zutrifft. Ich habe aber schon von Problemen gelesen, bei denen es die selben schwierigkeiten gab wie Du sie beschreibst. Hast Du eventuell eine alte Version von Opera fürs Px00?

beim mac läuft das anders denke ich, da wurde genau aus diesem grund dieses script (es ist nichts anderes) fürs p900 geschrieben, um ALLEN ip-traffic, also auch mail irc etc. per bluetooth über den mac ins internet zu routen (egal ob DSL oder ISDN oder Modem oder was auch immer)
soll funktionieren und wurde auf mac pages wie macnews.de schoin mehrfach beschrieben.

ich habs aber noch nicht probiert, und gemeinhin gilt das p900 beim bluetooth als ein wenig problematisch ....

jungens, es hat geklappt. im apple-script muss man direkt die MAC adresse vom p900 eingeben, auch p(900) eintippen. nun geht echt die party ab mit dsl und opera. vielen dank für eure tipps und die gute hilfe

ich meine 10meter rund um den mac rum ins internet mit dem handy ist ja fein .....
aber wozu denn eigentlich? wenn eine mail kommt tipp ich mir sicher nicht am p900 die finger wund wenn nur ein paar meter daneben der rechner steht.
und bei der wahl ob internetsurfen auf 3" oder auf 21" fällt mir die entscheidung eigentlich auch nicht schwer.

oder übersehe ich da was .......?

Naja, zum Aktualisieren des Wetters und der Wechselkurse von MobiMates WorldMate kann es kostensparend eingesetzt werden.

Und hin und wieder ist es testweise ganz lustig, was Opera so aus einer Website macht!

du übersiehst den funfaktor, und den spieltrieb vieler p900 user.
genau deswegen lieben wir doch alle unsere geräte.

ich lese damit zwischendurch die news die alle paar minuten von reueters akualisiert werden. das macht einfach fun.

auch der salling klicker ist der hit, läuft bei mir immer und damit gibt es einfach keine grenzen mehr für mein p900. ich kenne einfach keine bessere fernbedienung für itunes und tv yeahh

auch meine keynote präsentationen laufen immer damit ab, der kunde ist zufrieden und ich habe alles unter controlle.

was machst du mit deinem p900? bestimmt nicht nur quasseln, oder?

eigentlich richtig, das 900er ist ja genau genommen zu schade um "nur" damit zu telefonieren.

ich frage damit meine wichtigsten emailboxen ab, wenn ich mal unterwegs bin, und schicke auch kurze retourmails, soweit das mit dem stift geht.
die handschrifterkennung am p900 ist ja eher übel, zumindest im vergleich zum palm. ich komm jedenfalls damit nicht gut zurecht.

ansonsten fallweise mal ein foto machen, die cam ist ja saugut für ein handy und gelegentlich ein QT movie auf 3gp convertiert am handy vorführen. ist immer für einen lacher gut unter freunden.

hast du dir die handyday suite, die auf der original cd drauf ist aufs p900 installiert? geht ja unter mac irgendwie nicht, genausowenig wie die updates ;-(

naja, alles in allem aber sehr verwendbar das ding. bin recht happy damit. hatte früher einen vigor edge + T 39m, war aber immer ein bisserl kompliziert, und vor allem warens halt ZWEI dinger.

musst du eigentlich deine applikationen dann umschalten, wenn du nicht über bluetooth und den mac, sondern direkt über GPRS ins netz willst?

und reuters gibts ja nur als kostenpflichtiges abo, oder?

meinen neid hast du... ich habe ein ibook und ein windows notebook und mein p900 weigert sich hartnäckig, mit einem der beiden (oder - ich wage es kaum auszusprechen - mit BEIDEN zusammenzuarbeiten... (die jeweiligen bluetoothverbindungen klappen jedoch)

für die völlig doofen: könntest du mir schritt für schritt erklären, welches der beigefügten skripte von share2blue2th du benutzt, wo du p(900) eingegeben und wie du das problem mit opera gelöst hast...?
